Bio

As the parent of two boys and the founder and CEO of Care.com, Sheila Lirio Marcelo is the definition of a working mom. While struggling to find a nanny for her youngest, Sheila found she wasn't the only one running into trouble—busy moms everywhere had difficulty finding qualified caregivers for their loved ones. There weren't any simple solutions for the care crisis. To solve that problem, Sheila founded Care.com—an easy-to-use, safe, online service connecting families to care in their own hometowns. To date, Care.com has paired thousands of community members with babysitters, nannies, special needs caregivers, eldercare specialists, tutors, housekeepers, and pet experts as the web's premier care destination. A leading expert on care planning advice, Sheila has appeared on NBC’s Today Show, CBS’s The Early Show, and ABC News Now. She's also been featured in national news outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, Parenting Magazine, and Redbook. Sheila also regularly covers caregiving trends for parents and providers on her blog (http://blog.care.com). Sheila resides with her husband, two boys, and two dogs in the Boston area.
