I currently live in a state that has state income tax (MN). I recently purchased a winter home in Texas which has no state income tax. I spend about the same amount of time in each state. I can easily change my permenent residency to Texas. What income if any would I still have to pay MN state income tax on? I have Social Security income, pension income, TDA income and income from the sale of rental houses in MN (Both capital gain and interest income).

Recently my husband passed away and I needed to contact our estate planning attorney to change our Living Trust Portfolio. I was really surprised to be charged $7,400. Just before he passed away we paid $1,600 for estate planning fees for bringing our Trust up to date due to taxes changes. Is there some way of knowing how much how much they can charge?
