My wife and I are both retired . We have a sustantial retirement income . Even though we recently bought a modest second home as a tax write off we had a tax bill of over 7000. How do we increase or start deductions for SS and increase our deductions from state retirement ? Any thing we can do with our surplus money every month to lower our tax liability ?

My wife and I can afford to wait until age 70 to start taking benefits. Will we maximize our benefits by both of us waiting until then or should we use a combination of spousal benefits and start at an earlier age? We are assuming I will live until age 92 and she will live until 94. I have paid the maximum into SS for 38 years and my wife also has paid in for 18 years at a lower rate.
