At LifeTuner, we believe that everyone deserves a fair shot at understanding and mastering the financial fundamentals that are key to life. Whether it’s learning how to earn more, save more or invest what you’ve got, we can help answer questions so you can make smarter decisions.
Our non-profit personal finance community brings together sensible, unbiased tips and information from volunteer experts with a vibrant group of peers who share their experiences and learn from each other. We offer tips, tools, articles and real-life stories that can help you on your path to strong financial health.
LifeTuner is brought to you by AARP, a nonprofit organization that has witnessed first hand the challenges for individuals and families who do not take the steps earlier in life to plan for their future financial security. The site was created with input from more than 400 young adults who provided feedback and perspectives to help us shape the community.
Our active volunteer community of experts helps us shape our content, answer community questions, and make personal finance education manageable and easy to understand. The volunteers have a wide range of expertise and experience.
We work with two professional associations that oversee, license or provide certification to personal finance professionals:
The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) is the national, professional organization for all Certified Public Accountants (CPAs). CPAs are trusted financial advisors who help individuals, businesses and other organizations plan and reach their financial goals. CPAs complete more than 150 hours of intense training and a rigorous examination in order to become licensed and must abide by a strict code of professional ethics as well as state licensing guidelines. The AICPA and its member CPAs share a strong commitment to improving Americans' financial understanding.
The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards (CFP Board) is a non-profit certifying and standards-setting organization whose mission is to benefit the public by granting the CFP® certification and upholding it as a recognized standard of excellence for personal financial planning. Founded in 1985, the CFP Board sets and enforces education, examination, experience and ethics standards for over 60,000 CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals in the U.S. CFP® professionals are individuals who have met CFP Board's rigorous initial requirements, have agreed to adhere to high standards of ethical conduct, and who complete CFP Board's ongoing certification requirements to use the certification marks CFP® and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™.
